At 14°C on Thursday morning, Shivajinagar recorded its lowest December temperature to date.

On Thursday, the minimum temperature dropped in other parts of Pune as well: Pashan recorded 14.7 degrees, Lohegaon 16 degrees, and Chinchwad 18.3 degrees.

When asked if there would be any more chill in Pune or throughout Maharashtra, an Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Pune official responded that clear skies are highly anticipated in the upcoming days. Although there may be fog in the early mornings, from December 18 onwards, a northerly wind component is predicted to reach northern and central Maharashtra. Thus, it’s best to have the woollens ready for the approaching cold.

According to a weather expert, Shivajinagar’s minimum temperatures are predicted to show a variable trend during the course of the upcoming week. Temperatures are predicted to be between 13 and 15 degrees on December 15 and 16 and then slightly higher at 15 to 17 degrees on December 17. Towards the end of December, that is, on the 20th and 21st, it is predicted that the temperature will drop and hover around 14–16 degrees.

He went on to say that there would probably be a significant western disturbance that would affect the northern plains of India, including Delhi NCR, and cause a significant amount of rainfall in the region around Christmastime. It is possible that Pune and Nashik will see a decrease in temperature after this disruption.
