Pune: The eagerly awaited construction of a flyover and grade separator at Shastrinagar Chowk has received the green signal, marking a significant milestone in easing traffic congestion along Pune-Ahmednagar Road. The announcement was made today by Vadgaon Sheri constituency MLA Sunil Tingre, signaling a breakthrough in addressing the longstanding issue of traffic gridlock, particularly between Yerwada and Wagholi.

Funds allocated in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) budget have paved the way for the much-needed infrastructure enhancements, with flyovers and grade separators planned at strategic locations including Shastrinagar and Kharadi Bypass. MLA Sunil Tingre’s persistent advocacy played a pivotal role in securing these allocations, reflecting a commitment to improving commuting conditions for residents.

Speaking on the development, MLA Tingre underscored the significance of infrastructure development in alleviating traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity. He highlighted the challenges encountered in obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Archaeology Department, given the proximity of the Aga Khan Palace—a national monument—to Shastrinagar.

Efforts to expedite the NOC process involved concerted engagements with both Central and State governments, facilitated by Deputy Chief Minister Ajitdada Pawar. MLA Tingre expressed satisfaction in announcing the successful completion of the NOC process, with the Archaeology Department granting approval to the Pune Municipal Corporation on May 2, 2024.

Looking ahead, MLA Tingre affirmed that construction work on the flyover and grade separator will commence post the conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections’ code of conduct, underscoring a commitment to expeditiously addressing traffic woes and enhancing infrastructure in the region.
