Veteran actor and Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan was seen attending an event in Mumbai on Wednesday along with her daughter, Shweta Bachchan. As she arrived, paparazzi rushed towards her to capture photographs, leading to a visibly uncomfortable moment that has now gone viral on social media.

Jaya Bachchan Gets Irritated With Paparazzi

Jaya Bachchan, dressed in a white outfit and wearing a mask, appeared annoyed as photographers surrounded her while she walked toward the venue. The commotion and constant noise seemed to bother her, prompting her to stop briefly and glare sternly at the paps on her right. Shweta Bachchan then stepped in, holding her mother’s hand to guide her inside.

A video of the incident is making rounds on Instagram, showing her reaction amid the chaos.

In another clip from the event, Jaya is heard scolding the photographers, saying, “Aap log photo lo, badtameezi mat karo. Chup raho, munh band rakho, photo lo… khatam. Upar se comments karte rahte ho.”
(“Click your pictures, but don’t be ill-mannered. Stay quiet, keep your mouth shut, take the photos… that’s it. No need to keep making comments.”)

Not the First Time

Jaya Bachchan has often expressed her discomfort with the paparazzi culture and has, on multiple occasions, reprimanded photographers for invasive behaviour. She recently spoke about such experiences on her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda’s podcast What The Hell Navya.

During the episode, she pointed out how videos are frequently edited before being released online, saying, “What they take and what they put out are two different things. You have the freedom to do it, but what about my freedom?”

She also noted that certain remarks made by photographers are deliberately provocative to elicit reactions, adding that some celebrities “thrive on such things.”

Work Front

Jaya Bachchan was last seen in Karan Johar’s 2023 hit Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.
