City sanitation women worker dies after being struck by vehicle; Kharadi incident under investigation.
A tragic incident took place on Mundhwa-Kharadi Road when a car struck and killed 39-year-old Chhaya Mangesh Pedharkar, who was cutting grass on the footpath. The driver, identified as 52-year-old Rajendra Gyanoba Dhumal, and the accused in the case, has been arrested by the Chandan Nagar police. The complaint was lodged by Jyoti Lokhande.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 11 am on Monday, October 21. Chhaya Pedharkar was a contractual cleanliness worker for the municipal corporation. On Monday morning, she was trimming grass on Kharadi Road alongside a colleague when a speeding car collided with her. Unfortunately, Pedharkar suffered severe injuries and passed away before she could receive medical assistance.
After being alerted, the Chandan Nagar police quickly arrived at the scene and apprehended the accused. Assistant Police Inspector Mubarak Sheikh is currently leading the investigation. The police have filed a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Motor Vehicles Act, and further inquiries are ongoing.
