A lighthearted incident took place in Nagpur as Team India prepared for the upcoming three-match ODI series, which is part of their preparations for the Champions Trophy 2025.

Throwdown specialist Raghu, a key member of the team’s support staff, was stopped by the police outside the Radisson Hotel, where the team was staying. The police mistook him for a fan and initially denied him entry.

In a viral video circulating on social media, Raghu can be seen trying to convince the officers of his identity. As the exchange unfolded, the person recording the incident shouted, “Arey coach hai woh.

Team ke saath hai. Bus see utra hai” (He’s a coach, part of the team, he just got off the bus). After a brief discussion, the police realized their mistake and allowed Raghu to enter, but not before the embarrassing mix-up left them red-faced.

Who is Raghu?

Raghu is a crucial member of Team India’s support staff, specializing in throwdowns to help batsmen prepare for various match scenarios. His role involves replicating deliveries from fast bowlers, spinners, and bouncers, ensuring that players are ready for any challenge on the field.

Raghu’s journey into cricket began with dreams of playing professionally, but a hand injury forced him to shift his focus to coaching. His expertise in throwdowns, particularly his ability to deliver balls at speeds exceeding 150 km/h, earned him recognition in the Karnataka state team.

His big break came when Sachin Tendulkar recommended him for a spot in the Indian team’s support staff, where he has become indispensable to India’s batting preparation.
