Kochi, Aug 28 A call threatening that a bomb was kept within a Bengaluru-bound flight at Cochin International Airport sent security personnel into a tizzy on Monday.

The aircraft which was already pushed back for scheduled departure at10-30 am was brought back to the stand after the call was received at the CISF Control Room.

Subsequently the aircraft was shifted to the isolation parking bay. As per protocol, the bomb threat assessment committee chaired by the Airport Director was convened and interventions as per established procedure involving CISF QRT, Bomb squad, State Police, and other departments were carried out, an official message said.

All the 139 passengers were off loaded and shifted back to Security Hold area at Gate No.7. Simultaneously, re-screening of baggage started which was completed at 1 pm, with nothing suspicious being found.

The police have registered a case and started the investigation to trace out the origin of the internet call.
