A Mumbai resident, comedian Kashyap Swaroop, turned to the internet for help when his landlord failed to refund Rs 60,000 of his security deposit after he vacated the property. Swaroop, who had paid Rs 1.2 lakh as a deposit for a Versova flat, faced delays in receiving the refund despite vacating the house within the agreed time frame.

Expressing frustration on social media, Swaroop sought assistance, leading to widespread support and intervention by the Mumbai Police.

In his online plea, Swaroop detailed how the landlord had returned only Rs 50,000 and assured the remaining amount through a cheque after key handover.

However, Swaroop insisted on an immediate, preferably online, refund due to his upcoming payment obligations with the new landlord. The incident highlights the challenges tenants may face regarding security deposit disputes and the potential role of online communities in seeking resolution.
