Complete Land Acquisition For Pune Ring Road And Other Key Projects On Time: CM Fadnavis Directs Officials
Mumbai, June 19: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed all concerned authorities to ensure timely completion of land acquisition for major infrastructure projects across the state, with a special focus on the Pune Ring Road project. Chairing a review meeting at Varsha Bungalow, he emphasized that delays in land acquisition significantly escalate project costs and must be avoided at all costs.
CM Fadnavis reviewed land acquisition progress for critical road and rail projects, including the Pune Ring Road (East, West, and expansion phases), Nagpur–Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway, Virar–Alibaug Corridor, Jalna–Nanded Expressway, and Bhandara–Gadchiroli, Nagpur–Chandrapur, and Nagpur–Gondia expressways. Rail projects like Wardha–Nanded and Wadsa–Gadchiroli, and airport developments at Kolhapur, Karad, Akola, Gadchiroli, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar were also discussed.
Highlighting the importance of adhering to the given timelines, the Chief Minister instructed departments to act in “mission mode” and complete land acquisition efficiently. “All agencies must work with seriousness and urgency. Every delay increases costs and causes disruption. The Pune Ring Road is a priority, and delays here will impact the entire region’s development,” he said.
Fadnavis also suggested running expressway plans through the Gati Shakti portal to minimize forest land impact and expedite clearance processes. Specifically, for the Jalna–Nanded Expressway, he directed that land acquisition at Selu in Parbhani district be completed within 15 days.
He further instructed that the Wadsa–Gadchiroli and Wardha–Nanded railway land acquisition be concluded in two weeks. Proposals were also called for including the Vadhavan–Igatpuri Expressway under the Sagarmala scheme.
Regarding airports, CM Fadnavis recommended increasing the runway length at Akola to 2,400 meters and developing a modern terminal. For Gadchiroli Airport, the OLS survey must be completed and a proposal submitted by the district collector.
A budgetary provision of ₹53,354 crore is being considered for land acquisition across 11 ambitious state projects.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Revenue, PWD, Forest, Transport, Finance, and Urban Development departments, along with senior executives from MSRDC.
