Pune: To create awareness among developers and industry stakeholders, CREDAI Pune Metro in association with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) organised a Member Assistance Session on the Revised Guidelines for Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) Units. The event took place at the CREDAI Pune Auditorium, Nucleus Mall.
The session was addressed by senior MPCB officials including Mr. Satish Padwal, Joint Director, Mr. Baburao (Babushaeb) Kukade, Regional Officer (RO), Mr. K. During the presentation, the officers outlined the key aspects of the new guidelines, including the requirement of No Objection Certificates (NOC) from Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), development permission from planning authorities, and legal agreements between landowners and leaseholders. They also elaborated on environmental safety measures such as:
- Mandatory box covering for RMC plants
- Dust control and air quality management systems
- Tree plantation along the site periphery
- Concreting of approach roads to reduce dust
- Proper treatment of wastewater and effluents, ensuring compliance with prescribed standards (PM10: 100 µg/m³, PM2.5: 60 µg/m³)
- Noise pollution control mechanisms
The officials emphasised that these steps aim to promote cleaner, safer, and more sustainable operations in the construction sector.
Developers and CREDAI members actively participated in the discussion, shared their observations, and sought clarifications on certain provisions. They also appreciated MPCB’s proactive efforts in engaging with the real estate community and providing guidance on environmental compliance.
The session concluded with a mutual commitment to ensure that all RMC units in Pune adhere to the revised MPCB norms for sustainable development.
