Customer sets Ola electric showroom ablaze in Karnataka due to ‘this’ reason
In a dramatic escalation of customer dissatisfaction, a 26-year-old mechanic, Mohammad Nadeem, has been detained for allegedly setting fire to an Ola Electric showroom in Kalaburagi, Karnataka. This incident, which occurred on September 10, has raised concerns about the quality of service provided by the prominent e-scooter manufacturer.
Nadeem had purchased an Ola Electric scooter on August 28, but soon encountered persistent issues with the vehicle’s battery and sound system. Despite multiple visits to the showroom for repairs, his problems remained unresolved. Frustrated by what he perceived as inadequate service, Nadeem took extreme measures. He reportedly bought petrol and set fire to the showroom, resulting in significant damage. The blaze destroyed six scooters and caused an estimated loss of ₹8.5 lakh. Thankfully, the showroom was closed at the time, so no injuries were reported.
Kalaburagi’s police commissioner confirmed that Nadeem had repeatedly sought assistance without satisfactory results before deciding to commit arson. “He went multiple times and was not happy with the response. On Tuesday, he brought petrol and set fire to six bikes,” the commissioner explained.
The incident highlights growing frustrations with Ola Electric’s service centers, which have been struggling with a backlog of complaints. This event follows a similar fire at an Ola showroom in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, earlier this month.
Ola Electric, recently listed on the stock exchange, has yet to address this latest controversy. The company operates numerous service stations across India, but the recent spate of incidents underscores the need for improved customer service and problem resolution.
The police have registered a complaint against Nadeem, who is currently in custody. The company has not responded to requests for comment on this specific event or the broader issues surrounding its service operations.
