Pune : Recently, a shocking gold smuggling attempt was uncovered by Trichy airport authorities. The attempt involved the concealment of 612 grams of 24k gold, valued at Rs 37.58 lakh, within sanitary napkins.

The gold was ingeniously camouflaged in the form of a paste and hidden inside feminine hygiene products.

Customs officials discovered the operation during a routine security check, leading to the confiscation of two gold paste packets. A widely circulated video captured the moment when officials dissected the sanitary napkins, revealing the concealed gold paste. The incident has sparked widespread intrigue and discussion among online spectators.

However, crucial information concerning the identity of the individual behind the smuggling attempt and their method of entry into the airport remains undisclosed.

This is not an isolated occurrence at Trichy airport, as a prior incident in August involved the interception of a passenger arriving from Kuala Lumpur, in possession of 149 grams of gold, covertly stashed within two Nutella jars. The gold in that case had been ground into a fine powder, highlighting the perpetrators’ innovative yet illicit techniques.
