‘Cycles 4 Change’ : Process underway to develop first stretch of bicycle track between Jagtap Dairy to Rajiv Gandhi Bridge

‘Cycles 4 Change’, a joint affair of Home Ministry of Urban Affairs and the PCMC in the Pimpri Chinchwad has kickstarted with the development of its first stretch from Jagtap Dairy Chowk of Pimple Saudagar – Rajiv Gandhi Bridge, Aundh.
The four kilometer stretch will prove vital for all the bicycle enthusiast heading from Aundh to Hinjewadi and Hinjewadi to Aundh through Jagtap Dairy chowk.
PCMC Official, Vijay Bhojane and Joint City Engineer Shrikant Savane along with Ashik Jain, bicycle mayor, were present at Jagtap Dairy chowk to plan and review the area allotted for building the cycle track. Pune Pulse, too, reviewed the plan and the area allotted for the cycle track.
Vijay Bhojane, BRTS Officer said, “We have started marking the pop up Bicycle lanes on Aundh Ravet Road from Sangvi Phata to Jagtap Dairy. We are planning these lanes with enough width and proper design, for safe and convenient cycling.”

Shrikant Savane, Joint City Engineer, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporaation said, “India Cycles4Change is a challenge floated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and a platform for us to make Pimpri-Chinchwad bicycle friendly. With participation from the citizens through various online surveys and meetings with stakeholder groups, we have selected a network of streets in the city and are coming up with Pop-up Bicycle lanes to make cycling safe and convenient.”
Ashik Jain, bicycle mayor of Pimpri Chinchwad said, “It is exciting to see the participation from Municipal Corporation, the cycling groups and the citizens so far on the Pimpri-Chinchwad Cycles4Change Challenge. These are just the first few steps to ensure that our city becomes pedestrian and cycling friendly, thus reducing traffic, pollution, accidents and ensuring a green and sustainable future.”
