Actor Daisy Shah recently voiced her outrage and concern after a disturbing incident unfolded near her residence in Mumbai’s Bandra East. A house in the neighbourhood reportedly caught fire late at night, allegedly after firecrackers were burst by election campaign workers in the area. Daisy, who happened to be outside walking her dogs at the time, witnessed the chaos firsthand and decided to speak up.

Taking to Instagram, Daisy shared videos from the spot and did not mince her words while calling out what she described as reckless and senseless behaviour. Visibly shaken, she pointed out that the people who allegedly caused the fire fled the scene immediately, leaving residents to manage the dangerous situation on their own.

Expressing her anger in a detailed caption, Daisy clarified that her statement was not politically motivated. She wrote, “I have got nothing to do with any political party, but when you hire teams to run campaigns for your elections please make sure they have some common sense in them.”

She also mentioned that her building committee had earlier denied permission to these campaigners for door-to-door promotions, a decision she felt was justified given what eventually happened.

Daisy strongly criticised the use of fireworks in residential areas, especially during election promotions. According to her, such actions put innocent lives and property at risk. She described the incident as something that could have been completely avoided and blamed it on a total lack of civic responsibility.

In her post, she wrote, “It ain’t a natural calamity, it’s caused by brainless people. Take accountability, it’s high time.”

Her video quickly gained traction online, with many followers and fans supporting her stance and echoing her concerns about safety during election campaigns.

According to NDTV, Daisy reiterated that her intention was only to highlight what she witnessed. She said, “I said what I had to say already. There is no political agenda, nor am I trying to pin this on anybody. I stated what exactly happened.”

In the clip, Daisy explained how the fire allegedly started due to crackers being burst on the street. She was heard saying, “This is the result of bursting firecrackers on the street. People don’t understand, and this is because of stupid government people.”

She further alleged that campaigners were bursting crackers outside every building before entering. Daisy also revealed that her own house was located right next to the one that caught fire.

Questioning the mindset behind such actions, she said, “Where is the civic sense of the people? Really!” She added that nearly 200 people were present at the time and that those responsible ran away after the fire broke out. In the video, she can also be heard asking bystanders whether the fire brigade had been informed.

In another clip shared later, Daisy elaborated on the sequence of events. She explained that campaign teams were bursting crackers before entering each building and that her building authorities had refused them entry for door-to-door campaigning. She then showed the neighbouring house that had caught fire and stressed that bursting crackers near residential buildings is unacceptable.

Addressing why she mentioned a political party by name, Daisy said, “I did that so that there is accountability and responsibility. If you have done all these for campaigns, there was a mishap from your end, by the people hired by you. So step into it, see what has happened and come to a conclusion because that poor guy has lost his house.”

She further clarified her personal stance by saying, “I’ve got nothing to do with politics, I’ll have nothing to do with it in the future ever, I’ve never had anything to do with them in my past…I’m all heart for the people who wish good for their country, and that is me.”

She summed up her feelings in the caption, “What is WRONG is WRONG… Period!”

For those unfamiliar with her background, Daisy Shah began her career in the film industry as an assistant choreographer to Ganesh Acharya. She later made her acting debut as a lead in the 2011 Kannada film Bhadra. Her big break in Bollywood came in 2014 when she starred opposite Salman Khan in Jai Ho. Over the years, Daisy has worked in films as well as on digital platforms. She was last seen in the 2023 film Mystery of the Tattoo and later appeared in the 2024 web series Red Room.
