Delayed monsoon worsening water situation in Marathwada region

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, June 22 : Due to delay, the monsoon rains are worsening the water stocks situation in the 11 major water irrigation projects across the eight districts of Marathwada region and presently remain average 34.81 percent live water stocks in these projects.

According to the Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Corporation of Water Resources Department, Jayakwadi dam, one of the major dams situated at Paithan in this district, currently has 28.31 percent live water storage.

The Corporation said in Lower Dudhana Dam in Jalna district maintaining 26.29 percent stocks , Yeldari projects in Parbhani district having 56.38 percent water stock, Majalgaon dam in Beed 20.32 percent another Manjra dam in same district 20.49 percent, Panganga in Yavatmal district presently 44.21 percent live stocks and in Vishnupuri Dam in Nanded district is 35.60 percent, Mannar projects in Nanded 33.09 percent ,Nimma Terna in Osmanabad district is 31.21 percent ,Sina Kolegaon in Osmanabad only 0.25 percent and Siddeshwar in Hingoli districts is zero percent live stocks ,they added.

Meanwhile , the farmers who have already completed their pre-sowing works are eagerly waiting for rain to start sowing operations in the region.
