Delhi-Bengaluru Akasa Air Flight Returns to IGI Airport After Bomb Threat
Mahakumbh 2025: Akasa Air Announces Special Flights to Prayagraj from Pune And Three Major Cities
A Delhi-Bengaluru Akasa Air flight carrying 184 people returned to Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) on Wednesday following a bomb threat. The flight, identified as QP 1335, was scheduled to land in Delhi at approximately 2:00 p.m.
In a statement, Akasa Air reported that flight QP 1335 was en route from Delhi to Bengaluru on October 16, 2024, with 174 passengers, three infants, and seven crew members on board when it received a security alert. The airline’s Emergency Response teams advised the pilot to return to IGI Airport as a precautionary measure. The captain is following all required emergency procedures to ensure a safe landing in Delhi.
This incident follows a series of bomb threats that have raised security concerns. On Tuesday, seven flights, including one bound for the United States, received bomb-threat messages via a social media platform, prompting security agencies to implement specific counter-terrorism drills at several airports, according to official sources. The threats, made on the microblogging platform X, came a day after three international flights departing from Mumbai received similar warnings. These threats were later deemed hoaxes, but they disrupted the travel plans of numerous passengers and airline crews.
