Pune: A seven year old girl from Pune – Deshna Nahar –  worked hard for nine months to set the Guinness World Record in Limbo Skating. Nahar clocked 13.74 seconds to roller skate under the 20 cars in the middle split position over a distance of 193 feet.

The previous record was set by Li Mingfen – 14 year old girl from China in 2015. Mingfen had taken14.15 seconds to achieve same feat.

“Limbo skating comes under the category of roller skating. We watched a Guinness book world record video of a Chinese girl doing Limbo Skating. Our initial reaction was we can do this. For nine months we practiced for this and then achieved this world record,” said Vijay Malji, coach of Rock and Wheel Skating Academy Katraj under whom Nahar has been training for 1.5 years.

The record was attempted on April 16 at the Clover plaza mall in Kondhwa under the Indian representative of  Guinness book world record.

“While attempting, we were not allowed to skate on slope and flat surface was compulsory. After the location was approved by the representative (Guinness book world record) we practiced at the same venue (Clover plaza mall) for 20 days,” added Malji.

Nahar received the certificate in June 2022. Nahar currently practices for three hours. Early in the morning, Nahar does fitness drills while she practices for two hours.

“I started skating two years ago. As of now my aim is to improve my skills in skating,” said Nahar. Now Nahar and her coach are aiming to skate under 100 cars.
