The spy thriller sequel promises a darker backstory, a younger avatar of Ranveer Singh, and hints at Akshaye Khanna’s return ahead of its March 19, 2026 release.
After weeks of anticipation, the makers of Dhurandhar 2 have officially kicked off promotions by unveiling the film’s title and first look. The sequel is titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge, and actor Ranveer Singh shared the intense first-look poster on Tuesday morning.
Ranveer revealed that the teaser will drop at 12:12 pm, while confirming the film’s theatrical release date. Dhurandhar: The Revenge is set to hit cinemas worldwide on March 19, 2026, releasing in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
The first-look poster shows Ranveer in a fierce and menacing avatar, signalling a darker and more aggressive turn for his character. According to early details, the teaser opens by introducing audiences to a younger version of Ranveer’s character, offering a glimpse into his life before he became a spy. The 1-minute-12-second teaser reportedly focuses on his rise within the criminal world and his dominance over Lyari town, setting the stage for the revenge-driven narrative.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is a high-octane spy thriller that follows an Indian intelligence operative who infiltrates Karachi’s underworld and dismantles its nexus with terror outfits. The sequel appears to dig deeper into the personal history and motivations of Ranveer’s character, expanding the universe established in the first film.
One detail that has caught the attention of fans is Ranveer tagging Akshaye Khanna while announcing the sequel. Akshaye played the antagonist Rehman Dakait in the first Dhurandhar, a character who was killed in the climax. His mention has fuelled speculation that Akshaye could return in The Revenge, possibly through flashback sequences.
The cast of Dhurandhar 2 also includes Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal, all of whom are set to reprise their roles. The film continues to be helmed by Aditya Dhar, whose vision helped the first instalment become a massive commercial success.
Released on December 5, 2025, Dhurandhar ran in theatres for over 40 days and collected more than ₹820 crore in India, with worldwide earnings crossing ₹1,320 crore. It emerged as one of the highest-grossing Hindi films released in a single language, raising expectations significantly for the sequel.

With a revenge-driven storyline, expanded backstory and a multi-language release, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is shaping up to be one of the biggest theatrical releases of 2026.
