Renowned singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh recently shared poignant details about his childhood, shedding light on the challenges he faced and the sacrifices made by his parents. In a candid interview with Ranveer Allahabadia, Diljit disclosed that at the tender age of 11, his parents decided to send him away to live with a relative in Ludhiana, without consulting him first.

Dosanjh, born in the village of Dosanjh Kalan in Punjab, recalled the significant impact of this decision, which led to his relocation from his rural home to the bustling city. “I was eleven years old when I left my home and started living with my mamaji (maternal uncle). I came to the city leaving my village behind,” he shared, revealing that the move was aimed at ensuring his basic needs such as food, shelter, and schooling were adequately met.

Expressing his sentiments regarding the decision, Diljit admitted feeling a sense of detachment from his family due to the physical distance and lack of communication avenues prevalent at the time. “I used to stay alone in a small room. I used to just go to school and come back, there wasn’t any TV,” he recalled, highlighting the isolation he experienced.

Despite the strain on his relationship with his parents, Diljit emphasized his deep respect and admiration for them. “I respect my mother a lot. My father is a very sweet person,” he remarked, acknowledging their good intentions behind the decision, albeit at the cost of familial connection.

On the professional front, Diljit Dosanjh continues to carve his niche in both the music and film industries. With his upcoming movie “Amar Singh Chamkila” set to release on April 13, where he portrays the role of slain Punjabi musician Amar Singh Chamkila, Diljit’s versatility and talent continue to captivate audiences worldwide.

Reflecting on his journey from humble beginnings in Punjab to global recognition, Diljit remains grateful for the opportunities presented to him. “It’s tough to start from zero because you often get lost in your own personality…but the best thing about an actor’s job is that you get the opportunity to start from zero,” he remarked, embracing the challenges and growth inherent in his artistic pursuits.

As Diljit Dosanjh’s star continues to rise, his resilience and authenticity serve as inspirations to fans worldwide, reminding us of the power of perseverance and self-discovery in the pursuit of one’s dreams.
