In a disturbing case of alleged medical negligence at Kota Medical College Hospital, a man has claimed that doctors mistakenly performed surgery on his paralysed father instead of him.

The incident occurred after Manish, who had sustained injuries in a road accident, was admitted to the hospital for a scheduled surgery on Saturday. With no one else to assist him, Manish was accompanied by his paralysed father, who waited outside the operating theatre.

Describing the ordeal, Manish said, “I met with an accident and was injured. I called my paralysed father for help since I had no one else. I asked him to wait outside while I went in for surgery. But when I came out, I found that my father had received 5–6 stitches.”

Still recovering, Manish stated that he does not remember the name of the doctor who operated on him and expressed his distress over the incident.

In response to the allegations, Dr. Sangeeta Saxena, Principal of Kota Medical College Hospital, said, “I have directed the hospital superintendent to form a committee and submit a report within two to three days.” A three-member committee has now been constituted to investigate the matter.

The case has raised serious concerns over the hospital’s patient verification protocols and pre-surgery identification procedures. With public trust hanging in the balance, the incident has intensified calls for stronger safeguards to prevent such grave errors in the future.
