A 44-year-old woman from a society in Hadapsar was bitten by a pet dog in a lift, on June 20. The victim filed a complaint with Hadapsar police station. Police have registered a case on Tuesday against Manisha Singh, the dog owner, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

“This is not the first time that Manisha’s dog has bitten a person. Similar complaints have been raised by the society members but they did not approach us. The dog owners have been advised several times to take care of the dog and ensure that it does not bite anyone but it was ignored,” said Digambar Shinde, Inspector (Crime).

Shinde said that the complainant and Manisha Singh’s daughter along with the dog used the elevator at the same time. “There was no step taken to control the dog and it bit the victim on her right hand,” he said.
