On Wednesday, the Deputy Commissioner of Police of Thane Traffic Branch directed hotel, bar and dhaba owners in the city to arrange for dropping the customers who get drunk after drinking glasses of liquor on the ‘thirty first night’ safely at home. If these customers have their vehicles, they should be provided with a driver by the hotelier, otherwise, they should be sent to the desired destination in a rickshaw or car, the traffic police have instructed.

If these options are not available, hoteliers have been instructed to arrange for the accommodation of drunk customers to stay at the hotel until they are normal. Due to this, the number of accidents caused by drunken drivers on the roads will decrease and the risk of life of the driver and pedestrians will be avoided.

The Thane traffic department is gearing up to welcome the new year with a ‘zero accident’ campaign. In connection with this, a meeting of office bearers and hoteliers of the Thane City Hotel Association was organized at the office of Thane Traffic Police.

It is worthy to note that big parties are organized in various hotels and bars of the district to welcome the New Year. Citizens from surrounding cities come to Thane in their vehicles for these parties. At this time, the accident happens when the driver consumes alcohol in the hotel and drives home from there.
