In a shocking incident in Pune, a drunken man allegedly hijacked a PMPML bus and drove it recklessly through the busy Deccan area, triggering panic among commuters and pedestrians.
According to preliminary information, the accused was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and was seen driving the bus in an unstable and dangerous manner. The bus was intercepted by police on JM Road in Deccan, where officers forcibly pulled the man out of the driver’s seat and took him into custody.
Police officials said it was fortunate that there were no passengers inside the bus at the time of the incident, and no pedestrians or motorists were run over, avoiding what could have turned into a major tragedy in one of Pune’s busiest areas.
Authorities are now investigating where exactly the bus was stolen from and how the accused managed to gain access to it. The incident has once again raised serious concerns over the security and operational control of PMPML buses, with questions being raised about lapses in supervision and safety measures.
