Drunk NEHU Security Guard Rams Car Into Two Students; Both Critically Injured, FIR Filed
Shillong, Nov 17 — Two female students of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) were critically injured after being hit by a car driven by a university security guard who was allegedly drunk at the time. The incident took place around 7:30 pm on the campus while the students were walking.
Both injured students have been admitted to a private hospital in Shillong, where they remain in the Intensive Care Unit.
East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem confirmed that the security guard has been arrested and his vehicle seized. Preliminary findings indicate that he was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred. A detailed investigation is underway.
NEHU authorities condemned the “reckless driving” and stated that an FIR has been registered. The concerned department within the university has been directed to prepare and submit a comprehensive report on the incident at the earliest.
