Celebrities are now facing serious legal troubles as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken strong action against the illegal betting platform 1xBet. Among those affected are actress Urvashi Rautela, actors Sonu Sood and Ankush Hazra, Mimi Chakraborty, Neha Sharma, and former cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa.
These stars have long been associated with promotions for illegal betting apps, and authorities have intensified their scrutiny. Reports reveal that Yuvraj Singh’s assets, valued at ₹12.5 crore (around $1.26 million), have been confiscated. Robin Uthappa’s assets worth ₹8.26 lakh (approx. ₹91.26 lakh), Sonu Sood’s ₹8.26 lakh (approx. ₹91.26 lakh), and Urvashi Rautela’s ₹8.26 lakh (approx. ₹92.02 lakh) have also been seized. The latest ED action has resulted in the seizure of assets worth a total of ₹17.13 crore (approx. ₹81.26 lakh). Previously, the ED had confiscated Shikhar Dhawan’s assets worth ₹14.55 crore and Suresh Raina’s ₹16.64 crore. Overall, the total seized assets in connection with the 1xBet case have now reached ₹19.07 crore. All the celebrities involved are accused of promoting this illegal betting platform.
The 1xBet investigation has been ongoing for an extended period. Other online betting apps have also been accused of defrauding users and investors of huge sums of money. Reports indicate that the ED has conducted extensive interrogations of stars including Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Sonu Sood, and others in connection with their association with these platforms.
Investigations reveal that 1xBet, along with its other brands such as 1xBat and Sporting Lines, operated illegal online betting services in India. The inquiry further found that these celebrities had entered advertising agreements with foreign companies and actively promoted the platforms on their social media accounts.
