Pune, June 17, 2024 – In preparation for the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations on Monday, Pune City police have announced several road closures and traffic diversions. The main event, the Namaz prayer offering, will be held at Golibar Maidan, starting around 6 am. Consequently, the road connecting Mammadevi Chowk, Golibar Maidan, and Seven Loves Chowk will be closed to vehicular traffic.

Traffic Changes in Pune

The Pune City police’s traffic control branch will enforce road closures and diversions from 6 am on Eid-ul-Adha day until the Namaz prayer offerings conclude. These changes will not apply to government vehicles on duty and emergency services such as ambulances, fire tenders, and police and military vehicles.

Closed Roads and Alternate Routes:

  1. Golibar Maidan to Swargate: This road will be closed, and traffic will be diverted left from Golibar Maidan via CDO Square, Giridhar Bhawan Chowk, and Seven Loves Chowk.
  2. CDO Square to Golibar Chowk: This route will be completely closed from 6 am to 11 am, with diversions via Lullanagar, Khanya Maruti Chowk, Napier Road, Mammadevi Chowk, Wanawadi Bazar, and Bhairoba Nala.
  3. Solapur Road to Mammadevi Chowk: Traffic will be rerouted from Mammadevi Chowk to Bishop’s School, Command Hospital, Napier Chowk, and CDO Square.
  4. Heavy Vehicles: All heavy vehicles, goods and passenger vehicles, and civic and state transport vehicles from Kondhwa will be diverted via Gangadham Chowk.

Traffic Changes in Pimpri Chinchwad

The Pimpri Chinchwad police have also announced road closures and traffic changes in the Chinchwad and Bhosari traffic divisions for the gatherings at Chaphekar Chowk Eidgah and Bhosari MIDC. These changes will be in effect between 5 am and 1 pm on Monday.

Chinchwad Area:

  • Mari Aai Mata Mandir to Chaphekar Chowk: The road will be closed, and traffic will be diverted via Ahimsa Chowk and Seven Orange Hospital.
  • Bijli Nagar to Chaphekar Chowk: This road will be closed, with vehicles diverted via Mari Aai Mata Mandir or Seven Orange Hospital.

Bhosari Area:

  • Anukul Chowk to Quality Ice Cream Chowk: This road will be closed, and vehicles will be diverted by Gawali Matha Hanuman Mandir. These changes will be enforced from 6 am to 9 pm on both Monday and Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijaykumar Magar issued the notification earlier this week, ensuring all necessary arrangements are in place for a smooth and safe Eid-ul-Adha celebration. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
