Environment lovers collect 50 kgs of waste from Vetal tekdi

The adverse impact of the environmental changes on the lives of people is clearly visible as the pollution levels are crossing the bar. And hence, citizens are proactively striving to save the natural and green reserves of the city. In one of the recent examples set by a group like-minded people in Pune, basically nature enthusiast, took to the Vetal Tekdi to clean the entire area that is extremely important for maintaining ground water reserve and overall cleanliness on the hill.

Amita Nagarkatti, one of the members of the group was formed due to mutual interest of cleaning the green spaces and natural plots in Pune. The group cleaned the tekdi and collected almost 50 – 60 kgs of garbage dumped by the visitors. While talking to Pune Pulse, she said, “We all connected through Instagram, as one of the volunteers from our group told me that we must do something about the cleanliness. Immediately, I got responses for cleanliness drive on my story from the interested residents, which has become a family of twenty five members. We shall carry out similar drive in near future, too.”
