Epilepsy screening camp held by Rotary Club of Pune Baner

A special medical camp for screening and detection of surgical candidates of epilepsy was conducted by the Rotary Club of Pune Baner on July 1, 2021 at the Bal Kalyan Sanstha, at Ganeshkhind in Pune.

The Club President, Rtn. Sanket Saraf, Secretary, Rtn. Aniruddha Joshi and the organizing committee of the camp enabled a smooth functioning and execution of the camp which saw numerous patients of epilepsy being counselled by a specialist. The camp was held free of cost.

Patients were examined and counselled by renowned Nuerosurgeon, Dr. Nilesh Kurwale from the Centre for Epilepsy, Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital Pune.

Beneficiaries in large numbers took the opportunity to avail of the free counselling and benefitted from the camp.

Dr. Kurwale informed, “Of all the patients who visited, I came across nine patients who need surgery”.

The Club has planned to partly sponsor the surgeries for the financially backward patients who were identified in the project. Also, a drive will be launched to identify more such patients and to reach out to them.
