Fadnavis Orders Probe Into Sexual Harassment Complaint Against Spanish Firm In Pune
Mumbai/Pune, June 25, 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered an inquiry into allegations of sexual harassment involving a Spanish multinational company operating in Pune district. The probe was announced in the Maharashtra Legislative Council on Wednesday following concerns raised by lawmakers.
The issue was brought up by Shiv Sena MLC Manisha Kayande, who alleged that a female employee was terminated shortly after filing a sexual harassment complaint against an individual at the company. She demanded strict action against the firm and those responsible.

Responding to the matter, Fadnavis said a senior government officer would conduct an investigation and submit a report within 15 days. He assured the House that if the allegations are found to be true, action would be taken against both the company and the accused individual.
“The woman will not face injustice under any circumstances,” the Chief Minister said.
The discussion also extended to similar allegations raised in other institutions across Maharashtra. Kayande highlighted complaints of harassment and religious conversion at a government-run Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Solapur. Fadnavis directed authorities to initiate an immediate inquiry into the matter.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Chitra Wagh raised concerns over allegations of sexual harassment and religious conversion at a Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is already probing multiple cases linked to alleged exploitation, coercive religious conversion attempts, molestation, and mental harassment at the facility.
The Chief Minister described the Nashik case as an “eye-opener” and expressed concern over what he termed a recurring pattern in some corporate workplaces. He noted that while legal provisions exist to address workplace harassment, effective implementation remains a challenge.
Fadnavis also clarified that TCS has fully cooperated with investigators and that the company itself is not accused in the case. According to him, the IT major has suspended employees allegedly involved in misconduct and reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion.
To strengthen safeguards for women in workplaces, the Chief Minister proposed forming a panel of women legislators from both Houses of the state legislature. The committee would review existing laws, study recent cases, and recommend measures to improve protection against workplace harassment and forced religious conversion. The state government, he said, would consider implementing the panel’s recommendations.
