FASTag Annual Pass Fee Hiked From April 1: Check New Price, Eligibility and How to Apply
Frequent highway travellers who rely on the FASTag annual toll pass should be prepared for a small price increase starting next month. The government has approved a revision in the annual pass fee for private vehicles, meaning motorists who regularly use national highways will soon pay slightly more for the convenience of unlimited toll access within the allowed limit.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced that the FASTag Annual Pass price will increase by 2.5 percent, taking the cost from ₹3,000 to ₹3,075. The revised fee will come into effect from April 1, 2026, and will apply for the financial year 2026–27.
Officials clarified that this revision follows the standard process of annual toll adjustments across the country. As one official explained, “The price hike follows the usual formula used for revising highway toll charges every year across India.”
Validity and Toll Crossing Limit
The FASTag annual pass is specifically designed for private vehicles such as cars that frequently travel on national highways. Once activated, the pass allows vehicles to cross toll plazas without paying the toll fee each time.
However, the pass comes with a defined usage limit. It remains valid for one year or up to 200 toll crossings, whichever comes first. This means that if a vehicle crosses 200 toll plazas before completing a year, the pass will expire at that point.
The National Highways Authority of India has increased the Annual Pass fee for non-commercial vehicles with valid FASTag from ₹3,000 to ₹3,075 for FY 2026–27, effective 1 April 2026, valid for one year or 200 toll crossings. pic.twitter.com/COAw15Y7R5

Authorities have also instructed toll plaza operators and concerned officials to implement the revised price starting from April 1.
FASTag Required to Get the Pass
To obtain the annual toll pass, the vehicle must have an active FASTag linked to it. The annual pass is digitally connected to the FASTag, allowing vehicles to move through toll plazas without stopping or making additional payments until the usage limit is reached.
Steps to Apply for the FASTag Annual Pass
Drivers who frequently commute on national highways can easily apply for the pass online. The process includes:
1. Visit the official NHAI website or mobile app.
2. Select the option for the FASTag Annual Pass.
3. Pay the prescribed fee online.
4. Once the payment is completed, the pass gets linked to the vehicle’s FASTag.
After activation, drivers can cross toll plazas without paying individual toll charges each time.
Popular Option Among Frequent Highway Users
The annual pass has gained significant popularity among motorists who travel daily or regularly on national highways. Since its launch on August 15, more than 52 lakh car owners have already subscribed to the scheme.
Officials noted that the pass can also be recharged multiple times within a year, making it a flexible option for frequent travellers. One official added, “People who recharge the pass before the end of this month can still purchase it at the current price of ₹3,000.”
