Fatal Collision On Karve Road In Pune: Drunk Driver Of Tempo Arrested

A tragic accident occurred in Pune on Sunday night when a tempo driver under influence of alcohol, Ashish Anant Pawar, 26 collided with multiple vehicles, including a rickshaw, a Hyundai i10, and several two-wheelers, injuring several people and resulting in the death of 35-year-old Geetanjali Srikanth Amarale. The incident took place around 9:30 p.m. between Karishma Chowk and Paud Phata.
His tempo first hit a vehicle near Karishma Chowk, narrowly missing a crowd gathered for an Aarti ceremony.
He then continued his rampage, striking several vehicles before colliding with the car of Shrikanth Amarale and his wife Geetanjali at Paud Phata Chowk. The forceful impact severely injured Geetanjali.
Local residents and workers from nearby organizations rushed to the scene and immediately transported the injured to the hospital. Unfortunately, Geetanjali succumbed to her injuries before receiving medical treatment.
Shrikanth Amarale, an activist with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and an office bearer of the Sangam Mitra Mandal in Shastrinagar, was out collecting materials for Gauri celebrations with his wife when the accident occurred.
Pawar has been arrested by the police in connection with the fatal accident.
