Every year, Father’s day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June in India and other countries like the United States. Therefore, Father’s Day will be observed on 16th June this year.

A father frequently acts as the rock of the home, giving his kids the impression that he is a superhero. Fathers are respected for their steadfast love and commitment, acting as friends, mentors and guides among other things. An annual celebration of Father’s Day is held in honour of their achievements. This day is devoted to honouring fathers, who are devoted to fostering their kids’ development and offering them emotional support and direction.

Father’s Day origin:

Father’s Day has its roots in the United States and dates back to the early 20th century. It is said that Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington, spearheaded the movement for this day. Dodd was motivated by Mother’s Day to honour her father, William Jackson Smart, a Civil War veteran who raised his six children on his own after their mother died. Her efforts paid off, as Father’s Day was observed for the first time in Spokane on 19th June, 1910.

President Richard Nixon did not formally declare Father’s Day a public holiday in the United States until 1972. Father’s Day is celebrated annually on the third Sunday in June in many countries nowadays.

Significance of Father’s Day

Father’s Day is important because, like Mother’s Day, it offers a chance to recognise and celebrate the importance of fathers. Children use this day to show their appreciation and gratitude for their fathers’ love, support and selflessness. Fathers’ relationships with their children are strengthened by this celebration, which improves family dynamics and fosters a deeper connection.
