Pune, October 11: Pune city is all set to host its first-ever ‘Korean Special Art Exhibition’ from the 13th to 15th October 2023 at Sant Dnyaneshwar Hall, Savitribai Phule Pune University from 11 am to 6 pm. 

Open to all, this one-of-a-kind exhibition will display paintings of 30 well-known Korean artists commemorating 50 years of diplomatic ties between India and Korea.

The exhibition is being presented by the K-Art International Exchange Association of Korea in collaboration with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) – Science and Technology Park, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), and supported by the Art Pune Foundation.

The ‘Korean Special Art Exhibition’ will be formally inaugurated on Friday 13th October at 5.30 pm at Sant Dnyaneshwar Hall, SPPU. The exhibition and the inauguration ceremony will be open for all to attend. The inauguration will be done in the presence of Heo Sook; Chairperson of K-Art International Exchange Association of Korea, Kim Young-OG; Consulate General of Republic of Korea, Rahul Mahiwal; IAS – Metropolitan Commissioner PMRDA, Dr. Suresh Gosavi; Vice Chancellor – SPPU, Dr. Parag Kalkar; Pro Vice-Chancellor – SPPU, Dr. Praful Pawar; Registrar – SPPU, Dilip Band; IAS (Retd.) and President of Science and Technology Park, Pune, Rekha Magar; President of FICCI FLO Pune Chapter along with Dr. Rajendra Jagdale; Director General and CEO of Science and Technology Park, Pune.

Speaking about the initiative Dr. Rajendra Jagdale said, “India and Korea have a thriving business, technological and cultural association, and both the countries share a lot of commonalities in food traditions as well. We are hosting the ‘Korean Special Art Exhibition’ to mark the completion of 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Korea and to aid further cultural exchanges.”

“An art exhibition should be organized at a place where it is valued and appreciated. Pune is the best place for this as it is the cultural capital of Maharashtra and has art aficionados who understand art in all forms.” He added further.  

The first-ever ‘Korean Special Art Exhibition’ in the city promises to enthrall people who will not just see Korean paintings but also get to meet the artists in person. The event will bring Pune city and Korea closer; help connect Pune artists with Korean artists and present a platform for art collectors. The exhibition will showcase paintings of 30 renowned Korean artists with over 80 masterpieces. It will include varied types and styles of art forms from abstract, landscapes, and impressionist to contemporary. One will get to see the use of different media such as oil, watercolors, acrylic 3D, and blended media.

The exhibition is being presented by the K-Art International Exchange Association of Korea which works to promote Korean art to foreign countries through international art exchanges. It also works at introducing foreign art to Korea to realize art, cultural, and human exchanges along with art education and social services.
