Pune: The Vande Bharat Express train is currently the subject of much discussion in the country. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2019, connecting Varanasi and the capital city of Delhi.

However, this train is currently only available with air-conditioned seats, which have slightly higher fares compared to other regular trains. In order to make it more accessible to the general public, the Railways is planning to introduce a non-air-conditioned version of the train in the near future.

The first look of this Vande Sadharan train has been unveiled, and its unique features will be explored. The Vande Bharat Express is the country’s first semi-high-speed train. In a similar way, a non-air-conditioned train called Vande Sadharan is also being developed for the common man. It is also referred to as a non-air-conditioned push-pull train, as it has engines at both the front and rear, allowing it to accelerate from any point. This train is expected to be operational by the end of this year, with trials set to commence by the end of this month.

The manufacturing of this train is taking place at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. The train consists of 22 coaches, with locomotive engines on both ends. It comprises 12 sleeper class coaches, 8 general coaches, and 2 guard coaches. Two locomotives are being exclusively manufactured for the Vande Sadharan train at the Chittaranjan Locomotive Factory (CLW).

Subsequently, trains have been introduced on routes from New Delhi to Mata Vaishno Devi and Mumbai Central to Gandhinagar. Preparations are also underway for the introduction of Vande Metro and Vande Sleeper trains. The Railways is actively working on developing the sleeper coach of the Vande Bharat train. Recently, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared updates on these projects.
