A new memorial named Satark Park has been inaugurated in Wanowrie, Pune cantonment, honoring the sacrifices of Military Intelligence (MI) personnel who laid down their lives in service to the nation. This is the first public monument in India dedicated specifically to MI heroes, recognizing their critical yet often secretive roles in safeguarding the country.

Inspired by the motto of Military Intelligence, “Sada Satark” (Always Alert), the memorial displays busts of distinguished MI personnel along with descriptions of their bravery. Among those honored are recipients of the prestigious Kirti Chakra and Shaurya Chakra awards.

The memorial has been developed by the Military Intelligence Training School and Depot (MITSD) with the support of Roadway Solutions India Infra Ltd (RSIIL).

Since 1962, a total of 40 MI personnel—including 11 officers—have made the ultimate sacrifice, primarily during operations in Jammu and Kashmir and along the North Eastern borders. Due to the classified nature of their work, the stories of their valor had remained largely untold—until now. Satark Park provides a platform to publicly acknowledge their contributions.

Each of these busts symbolizes the unwavering commitment of MI personnel. These 40 lives were lived with courage, dedication, and an unyielding spirit in the face of adversity. This memorial ensures their legacy will be remembered for generations to come.
