FPJ HL: Pune’s IT Sector Questions Maharashtra Government On Recent Decision To Increase Working Hours: Asks, “What About Employee Rights?”

Many IT employees have voiced their disappointment, questioning why the government has chosen to extend work hours instead of addressing long-pending employee rights.

IT Employees Raise Concerns

The Forum of IT Employees (FITE), which represents a large section of IT workers in Pune, took to social media to express their anger. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the group said, “The government has increased IT/private sector working hours from 9 to 10 hrs/day. But what about employee rights like a notice period of 30 days, a fair BGV process, layoffs & Full and Final Settlement (FNF)? If the government can help industry with this change, why ignore employees?”

The forum stressed that while the government is making changes that benefit employers, it is failing to act on issues that directly affect workers’ lives and job security.
