Flight Delayed for Over 5 Hours: IndiGo Passengers Lash Out at Ground Staff at Mumbai Airport
Social Media Erupts After IndiGo Passengers Confront Ground Staff Over Long Delay at Mumbai Airport
A video of frustrated passengers scheduled to fly with IndiGo, loudly confronting ground staff at Mumbai airport, has gone viral on social media. The clip, shared on the X handle @gharkekalesh, shows passengers angrily engaging with female ground staff near a boarding gate after waiting over five hours without being informed of their flight’s delay.
In the video, an irate man demands answers from the ground staff, soon joined by other passengers. One woman can be heard asking, “Other flights have left, why hasn’t this one?” Towards the end, passengers ask security personnel to summon the manager. The video, posted on September 28, has garnered over 33.69 million views, sparking mixed reactions. Some praised the ground staff for staying calm, while others criticized the airline for its poor communication.
One user commented, “He’s frustrated, but the crew can’t control the delay. I’ve seen such situations in Australia; passengers there are more patient and respectful.” Another remarked, “That man is behaving poorly. Delays are annoying, but it’s not the ground staff’s fault—they’re powerless in these situations.” A third added, “If being late by five minutes can get passengers denied boarding, airlines should be fined for every hour of delay.”
Earlier this month, an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Doha faced a similar situation, with passengers kept on board for nearly five hours before being asked to deboard and wait in a holding area.
