PUNE: The highly anticipated air connection between Bhopal and Pune, Kolkata has encountered a setback.

The slots designated for Indigo’s flights have been temporarily put on hold, causing uncertainty regarding the starting date.

Bhopal’s airport, which currently offers direct connections to various cities, has long received requests for routes to Pune and Kolkata. The reasons for this delay are unknown, leading to speculation that it reflects the region’s political will. Bhopal’s airport recently achieved the highest customer satisfaction rating, raising expectations for expanded flight services and new destinations.

However, Bhopal’s ambitions for Skylink have been delayed. Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, has eagerly awaited direct flights to Pune and Kolkata, with travelers expressing their desires for these connections for years. Unfortunately, an unexpected obstacle has emerged. The slots allocated for Indigo’s flights have been put on hold, and the starting date is now uncertain.

Initially, these flights were scheduled to begin operating on October 8th. While Bhopal airport currently offers direct connections to major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Agra, Prayagraj, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Udaipur, Raipur, Goa, Kochi, and Ahmedabad, the demand for routes to Pune and Kolkata has persisted for a long time. It is worth mentioning that flights to Pune have been introduced in the past but discontinued due to various reasons. The sudden hold on the slots has left the community bewildered.
