Penalty of Rs 5000 to be levied on officer concerned for service delay, says commissioner

Pune: Dilip Shinde, State Chief Service Rights Commissioner has directed all officers to pay attention to Maharashtra State Public Service Rights Act which says that it is mandatory to provide the service to the citizens in a transparent manner, promptly and also within the prescribed time frame.

The review meeting regarding the implementation of Maharashtra State Public Service Rights Act-2015 was held recently in which all department representatives of Pune district participated. Collector Rajesh Deshmukh along with chief officers of various departments were present during the meeting.

Dilip Shinde said, “Pune district receives the highest number of applications for services in the state. The application output rate is also excellent. Therefore, care should be taken to ensure that the citizens get the services on time.”

Dilip Shinde informed that 14 lakh 47 thousand applications were received in Pune district in 2021-22. Out of them, 13 lakh 46 thousand applications were settled. This year, out of 5 lakh 50 thousand applications received from April to June, 4 lakh 85 thousand applications were disposed of.

“If the service is not made available or if it is made available after time, a penalty of up to Rs.5000 may be levied from the salary of the officer concerned,” added Dilip Shinde.

Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh said “The revenue department has made 40 services available online and another 59 services are to be made online. Maha e-service centers are important for providing services and currently 1432 service centers are in operation and for the remaining 781 centers, all the approval processes will be started within the next month.”
