Pune:  After making water free at all World Cup stadiums, spectators will be served free popcorn and cold drinks at the Wankhede Stadium. The Mumbai Cricket Association decided on the South Africa vs Bangladesh match on Tuesday (Oct 24).

The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai has made a significant decision as it will be hosting the match between India and Sri Lanka on November 2, followed by Australia vs Afghanistan on November 15 and a semi-final match.

As per the information provided, to enhance the experience of fans, the stadium has announced that fans will be required to present their tickets at the counter and have them stamped. In return, they will receive complimentary popcorn and cold drinks. This initiative was proposed by Amol Kale, the President of the Mumbai Cricket Association.

MCA President Amol Kale said he proposed the idea which was accepted and that the association will bear all the costs associated with the exercise. The decision could potentially help draw massive crowds at the stadium, especially during the neutral matches.

As per the information received, it was proposed to provide free popcorn and cold drinks to all the visiting fans. The complimentary popcorn and cold drinks will be available in the non-hospitality areas of the stadium. Once their tickets are stamped, every fan will be given these refreshments, with the cost being covered by the MCA. This initiative will commence with the India vs Sri Lanka match and will continue until the semi-finals.

The proposal has been approved by the MCA apex members. Furthermore, the MCA has planned to unveil a statue of the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on November 1, just before the India-Sri Lanka match in Mumbai. This decision was made earlier this year to honour Sachin Tendulkar. The statue, created by renowned artist Pramod Kamble from Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, is a life-size representation of Sachin Tendulkar.

It is worth mentioning that the Wankhede Stadium recently witnessed a match between South Africa and Bangladesh, where South Africa emerged victorious with a significant 149-run lead. The stadium is known for high-scoring matches, and now fans will have the added pleasure of enjoying cold drinks and popcorn while watching the games.
