From Tea to First Aid and Free Rides: Bandra’s Sandeep Bacche Redefines the Auto-Rickshaw Experience
An auto-rickshaw that feels like a mini living room on wheels, packed with thoughtful features and kindness—that’s the hallmark of Sandeep Bacche from Bandra, Mumbai. His unique rickshaw offers hot tea, WiFi, an LCD screen, a pay phone, a cell phone charger, a first-aid kit, biscuits and chocolates for children, a power bank, and even shoe polish. Known for his generosity, Sandeep doesn’t just drive passengers from one place to another—he creates an experience filled with comfort, care, and heartwarming humanity, earning him the title of the “King of Bandra.”
Sandeep goes the extra mile to welcome passengers. A hot cup of tea is available for just Rs. 5, and children are greeted with chocolates and biscuits. He often helps school-going kids with small gestures, offering rides for free or at a nominal charge. Senior citizens and students receive discounted fares of just Rs. 10. The rickshaw itself is meticulously maintained every morning, Sandeep cleans it, arranges newspapers, and even posts daily updates on the weather, gold rates, exchange rates, and stock market news.

But Sandeep’s auto is more than just a comfortable ride—it’s an extension of his personality. The vehicle is decorated with messages promoting eye donation, water conservation, pollution control, and saving the girl child. It also has a donation box for cancer relief. Inspired by his own experiences, Sandeep works tirelessly to help those in need, offering discounted or free rides to visually challenged, differently-abled, and newly married couples, and never charging a paisa during medical emergencies.
His charitable work extends far beyond the rickshaw. Having lost his mother to cancer, Sandeep actively supports patients suffering from cancer and kidney ailments. A portion of every fare—Rs. 2—is donated monthly to the Tata Memorial Hospital and Mount Mary Church. He also distributes breakfast to patients on Sundays, collects clothes from donors, and sometimes organizes financial assistance for patients and their families. Through visits to authorized homes and hospitals, and thanks to his growing reputation, news of his generosity spreads by word of mouth.
Sandeep’s rickshaw is equipped for practical help as well. With a first-aid kit at hand, he often tends to people injured on the streets, cleaning and bandaging wounds at traffic signals. A small sign on his vehicle reads “Any problem, call Munnabhai SSC,” reflecting his love for the film Munnabhai MBBS and marking his achievement in clearing the SSC board exam.
Despite all the conveniences he provides, Sandeep also keeps things realistic. A sign on the rickshaw reads “No toilet available,” a humorous yet necessary notice after passengers once pointed out the lack of such facilities.
Sandeep’s all-in-one auto even catches the attention of luxury car owners. He notes with a smile that sometimes, BMW owners stop and admire his rickshaw.

From hot tea to WiFi, chocolates to charitable donations, first-aid assistance to inspirational messages, Sandeep Bacche has transformed the simple auto ride into an unforgettable experience. His rickshaw is more than a vehicle—it is a symbol of kindness, community, and the extraordinary difference one person can make in the lives of many.
