Gas Leak During Tank Cleaning at Jindal Company in Ratnagiri; Students Hospitalized with Respiratory Issues
RATNAGIRI – A suspected gas leak during tank maintenance work at the JSW company near Jaigad caused respiratory and nausea-related issues among approximately 35 to 40 students of Nandivade Secondary School.
The incident led to complaints of eye irritation and discomfort among the students. Affected children were promptly shifted to the District Government Hospital in Ratnagiri for treatment, with some receiving care at private hospitals.
Preliminary reports suggest the leak occurred during maintenance operations at the company’s tanks. While the situation caused alarm, officials have confirmed that the students are not in any serious danger.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the gas leak.
