Gas tanker overturns on Pune-Satara Highway; No gas leak reported

Pune: A gas tanker overturned on the Pune-Satara Highway at Kapurhol on Wednesday night. Fortunately, a major catastrophe was avoided as there was no leakage from the tanker.

As per information, the accident involving tanker number MH 31 FC 4022. The incident took place around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday night on the Pune-Satara highway. 

The driver of the tanker, Abdul Wajid, veered to the left side of the road in order to avoid collision with a car that abruptly applied its brakes in front of the tanker. However, due to the speed of the tanker and the slope of the road, the driver lost control and the tanker overturned.

The driver of the tanker sustained minor injuries in the accident. Personnel from the Rajgad police station, and police from the highway traffic branch, promptly responded to the scene and cleared the highway. The tanker was transporting approximately 19 tonnes of LPG gas.

Fortunately, there was no gas leakage when the tanker overturned. Otherwise, a significant disaster would have occurred on the highway. For safety purposes, the police deployed fire tenders at the scene. 

After strenuous efforts, the tanker was successfully cleared with the assistance of five cranes at 4 p.m. Subsequently, the tanker was redirected to its intended destination.
