Pune: The acquisition of land to construct a Railway Over Bridge (ROB) on the Pune to Miraj Railway line at Ghorpadi has been cleared by the Indian Army.

For this, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will provide cash compensation along with building quarters for the army and arranging the service channel. The tender process is currently underway for this work. The municipal administration has informed us that the contractual work orders will be given before the month of February.

As per further information from the X handle of Southern Command Indian Army “Meeting between Station Commander #Pune & @PMCPune to review the progress of Railway Over Bridge-I construction at Ghorpadi held. PMC appreciated #IndianArmy for the timely handing over of Def Land. Tendering under process & award of contract likely by Dec 23.”

Army officials and municipal officials met recently to discuss the construction of ROB on the Pune Miraj Railway route. In it, a review has been made regarding this project. While constructing this railway bridge, the railways required land from Pune Cantonment. In 2016 itself, the Defense Department permitted the transfer of 4,560 square meters of the cantonment area to the railways.

Meanwhile, the Pune Solapur railway bridge has already been started by the PMC and 70 per cent of its work has been completed. So, now the work of constructing the bridge on the Pune Miraj Railway will be taken up.

A tender has been floated for this work and the PMC has fixed the cost of this work at Rs 48 crore. By the month of February, the contractor for this work will be selected and ordered to start the work. The total length of this railway bridge is 636 meters and the width is going to be ten and a half meters. The work is expected to complete by 2026.

Maharashtra and Goa Sub Area which is the Local Military Authority (LMA) handed over the land after PCB and Central Railway authorities cleared the encroachments over it.
