Government Announces 3% DA Hike For Central Employees, Boosts MSP For Key Rabi Crops
In a major announcement ahead of Diwali, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a 3% hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees. This will be in effect from July 7, 2024 for the pensioners.
This decision, made during the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, will benefit lakhs of employees across the country and will cost the government Rs 9,448 crore.
Additionally, the government has also revised the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for several crops, including wheat, sunflower, and mustard, offering significant relief to farmers. These changes come at a crucial time ahead of the rabi crop season.
The cabinet has also passed the Coastal Shipping Bill 2024 and approved the construction of a new rail-road bridge in Kashi, with an estimated budget of Rs 2,642 crore.
These measures reflect the government’s efforts to support both its employees and the agricultural sector in the lead-up to the festive season.
