Groom from Dubai Arrives with 150 Guests, Finds Instagram Bride Missing in Punjab's Moga.
Deepak, a 24-year-old laborer in Dubai, returned to Punjab a month ago, excited to marry his future bride, Manpreet Kaur. He wore a bright red turban and traveled from his village, Mandiali in Jalandhar district, to Moga city in a car adorned with flowers, ready for the celebration. Accompanied by a baraat of over 150 guests in multiple vehicles, Deepak and Manpreet had been in a relationship for nearly three years, connecting through Instagram.
After their long-distance relationship, they decided to get married over the phone, arranging for their parents to speak and finalize plans. With December 6 set as their wedding day, Deepak was instructed by Manpreet and her family to bring a baraat of at least 150 guests. However, upon arriving in Moga, he discovered that Manpreet was missing and the venue was no longer available, leaving him and his guests in shock.
The groom, Deepak, reached Moga around noon and tried several times to contact Manpreet. At first, she answered and said that her relatives would come to direct the baraat to the venue. However, by 5 pm, no one had shown up, and she turned off her phone.
After waiting for over five hours, Deepak and his family decided to go to the local police station to file a complaint against Manpreet Kaur and her family, according to the report.
In his complaint, Deepak informed the police that he lived in Dubai and had met Kaur on Instagram three years prior.
They began communicating, formed a long-distance relationship, and decided to get married. After their parents had a phone conversation, they set the wedding date for December 6.
The devastated groom informed the police that Manpreet had claimed to be a lawyer with a high-paying job in Ferozepur.
Deepak stated that he had never met Manpreet face-to-face but had seen her pictures on Instagram. He mentioned that she told him the wedding would take place at a venue called ‘Rose Garden Palace,’ but when they arrived in Moga, they were informed that such a location did not exist. The groom also revealed that he had sent ₹50,000 to Manpreet when she requested financial assistance for the wedding.
