Geeta Ashram Khadki, Pune celebrated Guru Poornima on Sunday 21st July 2024 . Founded in 1998 by some close followers of Guruji Shri Padmanabhan Krishnadasa , the Geeta Ashram, Pune is dedicated to spiritual activities . The ashram, situated in Khadki, Pune, and its sub unit Gurukul Pimpri upholds the selfless principle of “Nara Seva, Narayan Seva” (Service to Humanity is Service to God).
This time the celebrations were held at Gurukul Pimpri also . There was a Mahamantra Chanting of Lord Krishna’s name followed by the holy darshan and blessings of Guruji Shri Padmanabhan Krishnadasa. Disciples and Devotees had gathered from cities and towns outside Pune also . This time there were groups and families from cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Ludhiana etc. The celebrations happened with great pomp and gusto at Geeta Ashram and also at Gurukul Pimpri. Guruji Shri Padmanabhan Krishnadasa gave away special Prasadam and divine blessings to all the multitudes of disciples and devotees gathered there. All the disciples and devotees who had come from far and near other towns took part in the divine Khichadi which was prepared by Guruji’s disciples. This was followed by a Bhajan in the evening which the assembled disciples and devotees participated with gusto. Guru Poornima is a special day when the celestial planets and the stars combine to create a very unique occasion when the Spiritual Guru’s benevolence , compassion and love for humanity which helps the human being negotiate the vicissitudes of human life, is celebrated . The word Guru in Sanskrit is derived from two root words Gu which means darkness or ignorance and Ru which means dispeller . So a divine Guru is a dispeller of darkness or ignorance The long lineage of spiritual Gurus like Maharishi Vyasa, Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya and a host of other splendid Gurus have already blessed this land with their wisdom , benevolence and Naraseva . Guruji Shri Padmanabhan Krishnadasa too with his infinite compassion has been doing Naraseva for fifty plus years . Guruji’s teachings that Naraseva or service to humanity is service to God is very relevant in today’s world which is filled with stress and challenges . The disciples and the devotees wholeheartedly and devotedly participated in the celebrations and were rejuvenated by the divine blessings .
