In a disturbing incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district, a young married man has alleged that he was forcibly subjected to gender reassignment surgery after being rendered unconscious with a cold drink. The man claims he regained consciousness five days later in a hospital, only to discover that his genitals had been surgically removed.
The case came to light after the victim’s wife filed a police complaint, prompting swift action from the authorities. Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the incident — a transgender woman named Rubina and her live-in partner Vikas. The incident took place in a village under the jurisdiction of Patwai Police Station, and a formal FIR has been lodged.
According to the victim, he was travelling to attend a dance programme in Bareilly’s Aonla area on June 26, when he encountered Rubina in Shahabad. She allegedly invited him to her home, where a few others were present. He was offered a packaged mango drink (Frooti), after which he lost consciousness.
The man claims he woke up four days later, still inside Rubina’s house, and was horrified to discover that his private parts had been surgically removed. He immediately contacted his family, who took him to Shahabad Police Station and then rushed him to the Community Health Centre (CHC). He was later referred to the district hospital for further treatment.
Shahabad Police Station in-charge, confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is underway. Both Rubina and Vikas are in custody and being interrogated to identify who performed the illegal surgery and where.
Medical officials who examined the victim confirmed that the operation appeared to be professionally executed. Medical Superintendent at CHC Shahabad, stated that the surgery had been performed with precision and the stitches were already healed, indicating it was not a crude act of violence but a medically executed operation.
Authorities are now probing how such a complex and unauthorized surgery was conducted, and whether a medical professional was involved. The case has sparked outrage and raised serious concerns over medical malpractice and illegal gender reassignment procedures. Investigations continue.
