Heroic Rescue on Pune-Bangalore Highway : Four Saved and One Injured in Severe Car Accident

Tragedy struck on the Pune-Bangalore Asian Highway as an Ertiga car lost control, resulting in a harrowing accident that left five individuals injured. The incident occurred at the base of Khambatki Ghat in Khandala taluka, where the vehicle collided with two youths before plunging into the Dhom-Balakwadi canal. Prompt intervention from local citizens and highway police led to the miraculous rescue of all passengers in the car.

Two Pune natives, Rahul Bhagyawant Ubale (25) and Avinash Bhagyawant Ubale (29), had paused near the canal during their journey to Dafalpur (T.Jat). Tragedy struck when an Ertiga car (Registration No. MH12 TY 1066) lost control and struck Rahul Ubale before submerging into the canal. The accident was witnessed by Sripati Shrimant Shinde (42), Shrimant Shinde (70), Rajshree Shrimant Shinde (37), Sanket Shripati Shinde (13), and Sanskriti Shripati Shinde (8), all hailing from Athani, Belgaum and temporarily present in Pune. These valiant individuals promptly rescued the victims from the submerged vehicle.

The accident left Rahul Ubale critically injured, and all the victims were rushed to a hospital for medical attention. Rahul Ubale has subsequently been transferred to a private hospital in Pune for advanced treatment. The swift actions of Assistant Police Inspector Harshad Galinde, Constable Manoj Gaikwad, Constable Vikas Kadam, and Vijay Bagal from the Bhujan Highway Police Station proved pivotal as they discovered the car submerged in the Dhom-Balakwadi Canal while patrolling Khambatki Ghat. The Khandala police are currently investigating the details surrounding the incident.

The fateful incident occurred amidst a surge of vehicles on the Pune-Bangalore highway due to consecutive holidays. The dedication and heroism displayed by Constables Manoj Gaikwad and Vikas Kadam in plunging into the canal to rescue citizens ensured that further tragedy was averted. Both the vigilant police force and the quick-witted citizens played instrumental roles in ensuring that no lives were lost in this accident.
