Pune: Complaints against developers under the guise of environmental regulations have been on the rise recently. As a result, there has also been an increase in notices issued by regulatory bodies to developers. CREDAI Pune Metro raised concerns on Friday about the delay of many projects due to stringent regulations.

The CREDAI Pune Property Expo was inaugurated on Friday by Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Muralidhar Mohol. During the event, key members of CREDAI Pune Metro, including President Ranjit Naiknavare, Vice Presidents Arvind Jain and Manish Jain, along with committee members, discussed issues impacting the housing sector.

CREDAI members pointed out that over 100 large construction projects in Pune have been delayed due to environmental clearance issues. Additionally, many developers have received notices from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. Manish Kaneria, Co-Chair of CREDAI Pune Metro’s Environment Committee, observed that while developers are complying with the regulations, some activists have been targeting them. He also highlighted that developers are addressing the issues pointed out in the notices.

Naiknavare mentioned that vehicle emissions contribute significantly to air pollution in the city, and dust from ongoing infrastructure projects further exacerbates the pollution. He emphasized that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) regularly monitors the implementation of its regulations to reduce pollution from construction activities.

Muralidhar Mohol discussed efforts to address traffic congestion in Pune, stating that there will be a focus on building new roads and improving infrastructure in the coming months. He also mentioned the steps being taken for the development of a new airport and the installation of new water pipelines to meet the growing demand as the city expands.

Naiknavare suggested that the government should reduce taxes on the housing sector to make homes more affordable for customers. He also called for an increase in the subsidy amount for home loans to help boost the sales of affordable housing.
