Pune: As many as 20 thousand new voters have registered so far in the Housing Society Voter Registration Campaign in Pune City from July 22, 2023.

As per information, this campaign is part of the Election Commission of India’s flagship programme Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP). Additionally, voter education and voter literacy campaigns are also launched.

Two significant campaigns have been launched to get people to sign up to vote. Along with housing voter registration, college students have also been encouraged to register to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which will take place next year. The campaign’s goal is to get 100 per cent of eligible voters in the district registered. A survey is being done every weekend as part of the campaign, which will run until November 2023.

This campaign is divided into four categories. Form 6 is for new voters, Form 6B is for linking an Aadhaar card to a voter ID, Form 7 is for removing names from the existing electoral roll and Form 8 is for requesting a change of address.

The total number of applications received over two weekends (July 22-23 and July 29-30) was 35,898. The election commission has yet to gather data for the most recent week. More than 20,000 of the total are first-time voters.
